On a beautiful Saturday morning on March 10th, the American Heart Association held its 21st Annual Hilo Heart & Stroke Walk. Activities started at 7am at the Hilo Bayfront Park. Exercise demos got everyone’s heart pumping before they headed out for the nearly 2 mile walk along the bay front highway. The AHA Hilo Heart Walk is an event that brings awareness to our community about life changes that need to be made to prevent a heart attack or stroke from happening to you. Changes that include: healthy food choices, healthy activities and balancing your life. The event also emphasizes “Knowing the Signs” of a heart attack or stroke so that the victim can get immediate help and stop the progression of an attack. Lex Brodie’s Tire was blessed to be at this event sponsoring the College of Pharmacy students who conducted Blood Pressure checks on fair goers.
