LEX BRODIE’S TIRE IN HILO WILL DISPOSE OF YOUR USED MOTOR OIL   Used motor oil contains toxic substances that can contaminate our land, ground water and ocean. The County of Hawai‘i operates a program for the do-it-yourself person who changes their own non-business vehicle’s motor oil. Please take it to one of the locations below.   If you are in Hilo, you will be happy to know that Lex Brodie's Tire in Hilo is a used motor oil recycling station. We were happy to help with the GREEN efforts to keep our Big Island free of toxic waste oil disposal. We'll take your used motor oil as long as we have room in the C/O Hawaii Recycling Oil Drums. Please call to confirm availability.    Unfortunately, at this time, empty motor oil containers are not recyclable at a global level. LEX BRODIE'S TIRE at the Hilo Heart & Stroke walk

  On a beautiful Saturday morning on March 10th, the American Heart Association held its 21st Annual Hilo Heart & Stroke Walk. Activities started at 7am at the Hilo Bayfront Park. Exercise demos got everyone’s heart pumping before they headed out for the nearly 2 mile walk along the bay front highway. The AHA Hilo Heart Walk is an event that brings awareness to our community about life changes that need to be made to prevent a heart attack or stroke from happening to you. Changes that include: healthy food choices, healthy activities and balancing your life.  The event also emphasizes “Knowing the Signs” of a heart attack or stroke so that the victim can get immediate help and stop the progression of an attack.
