BRODIE'S ANGELS got TWICE AS NICE! Lex Brodies Tire loves to help our Big Island families. For the past 6 years, BRODIE'S ANGELS have been blessing a Big Island family with repair and tires to keep their vehicle safely on the road.  This year, O'Reilly's Auto Parts Teamed up with US to be able to Bless Two families with much needed repairs.   Meet SAMANTHA-our Westside recipient. Her vehicle literally broke down the night before and had to be towed into our Kona shop to have her repairs done. She works in Kailua-Kona and drives home to Oceanview after 10pm so catching rides was not an option. She was stoked!! Meet KINI KAAWA-our East Hawaii recipient. She had 2 vehicles that needed repairs and could only afford one of them. With her Pathfinder on the mend,  their daily commuter-a Nissan Versa Note needed brakes badly. It's been an exciting year for JOSH DELUZ!   Earlier this year JOSH & LEAHI got married and their two children were part of the wedding ceremony. Earlier this month, JOSH had to evacuate his family from his Waikoloa Home because of the Parker Ranch Brush fire and now….. we would like to announce that JOSH DELUZ has been promoted to the WAIMEA STORE MANAGER!!!  CONGRATULATIONS JOSH!!  Josh originally started working for us in 2014 at the Lex Brodie's Fast Lube in Kona. His work ethic, great attitude and drive helped him to land the position as the Lube Lane technician at our Waimea Lex Brodie's location. He was a natural when it came to taking care of customers, he went on to do sales which lead him to learn more about building estimates and ordering parts for his customers. During the month of December, Lex Brodie’s Tire of the Big Island conducted a Holiday Food Drive.  Lex Brodie’s Tire gave our customers a discount on their tires if they brought in non-perishable food items for the Hawaii island Food Basket. The Hilo and Pahoa Lex Brodie's locations collected 671 lbs of food while the Kona and Kamuela locations collected 511 lbs for a total well over 1100 lbs. You have to agree that the Big Island is a pretty awesome place to live!  On the east side, we have rain.  But this means we have rivers and beautiful waterfalls, lush rainforests, exotic foliage, lots of farming for sustainable living, an active volcano and black sand beaches.  On the West side we have plenty of sun to grow coffee, macnuts, flowers and enjoy the gorgeous turquoise water with lots of ocean and beach activities that bring in tourist.  If one side of the island doesn't agree with you, you can always drive to the other side to get away and relax.  One thing that remains the same on both sides of the Island- are the AWESOME people who live and work here.  These people make up OUR COMMUNITY! Recycle-Bowl State Champion School Hilo, Hawai‘i ~ March 27, 2015 - Hawai‘iisland schools rallied to divert campus discards from the landfill by participating in the 4th Annual Recycle-Bowl Competition on October 20-November 15, 2014. Results of this nationwide recycling competition were announced in February and an awards ceremony was held on March 11 to acknowledge the top schools statewide. Volcano School of Arts and Sciences (VSAS) Middle Public Charter School was awarded as the or recycling the most pounds per student per school over the 4 weeks of the competition.  As a first time participant in this event, VSAS students received support from teachers and staff to collect and divert a total of 984 pounds of paper, cardboard, cartons, plastics and food waste from the landfill.  Their outstanding recycling efforts earned their school a $1,000 prize award sponsored by Lex Brodie Tire Foundation on O‘ahu.
