Employees and families of Lex Brodie's Tire, together with Reel Church and Malia Puka O Kalani Church, sponsored and served a free Thanksgiving meal on Wednesday, November 26, in Hilo. Thanks to the generosity and teamwork of everyone involved, we were able to serve over 1,000 people a hot meal featuring kalua turkey with gravy, rice, corn, sweet potato, and pumpkin pie.
Meals were delivered to local senior housing facilities, Lanakila Housing, Hawai'i Home for Recovery, the Salvation Army, and Mo'oheau Bandstand to support unhoused members of our community. 
We also offered a drive-thru pickup beginning at 4:00 p.m. in front of Saint Joseph High School on Ululani Street.  We are grateful to the many businesses and individuals who contributed to this community effort. A big Mahaloto Mike Ng’s dad for sharing his culinary talents; to Safeway Hilo for providing a generous discount on 24 turkeys; to Sum Leong Chop Suey and Café 100 for preparing 18 large pans of rice; to Robin Lee and his ‘ohana for cooking the turkeys in their certified imu; to Malia Church for hosting our turkey-shredding; and to HIHFR for allowing us to use their certified kitchen for meal preparation. Even Takeo Kawamoto joined in by driving into Hilo with his trailer of stoves and steamers to help heat the food.  We were truly blessed to have such amazing volunteers, whose support made it possible for us to serve our community.
