WHO IS TO BLAME?

We just got through an exciting election. This year we had a chance to vote for a new mayor for the Big island and a new president for the USA. America and Hawaii has voted and both men have been re-elected and will remain in office. As I was reading some FB post, I saw alot of finger pointing by some angry voters and One FB user said that it was OBAMA'S fault that there were so many people unemployed. I thought,"How could we blame one person for our current unemployment status?  WE CAN'T!"   And here's WHY in a condensed form.

The USA goes through phases of technology. I'll start as far back as The Industrial Revolution which was a period from 1750 to 1850 where changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transportation, and technology had a profound effect on the social, economic and cultural conditions of the times. Could you imagine going through those changes back in those days. "What do you mean I don't need my OX anymore?  He's like a child to me."  lol

As the years progressed, so did the technology. The Industrial Revolution was followed by the SECOND Industrial Revolution, The Atomic Age, The Jet Age (You mean we will travel there faster than we can drive), The Space Age, The Information Age and now this brings us into the DIGITAL Revolution.
WIKIPEDIA DEFINES IT AS:
The Digital Revolution, also sometimes called the third industrial revolution, is the change from analog mechanical and electronic technology to digital technology that has taken place since about 1980 and continues to the present day.  Implicitly, the term also refers to the sweeping changes brought about by digital computing and communication technology during the latter half of the 20th century.

Do you remember the day when CD's and cassettes where going to be obsolete because of new gadget called the iPod?  The device was no bigger than a stick of gum and you were going to be able to load albums of music on it.  REALLY!??    I remember this day and was excited and sad at the same time. it didn't take long before I saw a family music business close it's doors after 20 years. =(

The age of computers, Internet, cell phones, smart phones, iPads and more. IT'S HERE!  Consumers are more informed, can get things faster, there's no middle man, no need to visit a store or stand in lines. At times, you don't even have to leave your house. You can make a purchase at home, on your computer, not even talk to a single human being. You're happy because you also saved some money in the process and will have your new item delivered to your home, in a week, all the way from CHINA. Or even better ... a new truck from Idaho.   Think about it.  How many people did I just put out of work?  How many jobs are not needed anymore?  And remember ... It's a domino effect.  Who do I blame now?  Steve Jobs? ( But I admire this guy! )

So with all that was said, let's not point the finger at any one person. Our current Technology has made great changes. WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. Let's make the effort to keep our Hawaii people employed. Let's support our LOCAL ECONOMY.  Let's BUY LOCAL!  Let's visit & engage with our LOCAL BUSINESSES and KEEP OUR MONEY HERE IN HAWAII. Think about it. Let's make every purchase count.

And THANK YOU to our CUSTOMERS who buy from Us instead of a BIG BOX store. We truly appreciate your business.

KEEP IT LOCAL!

Aloha .... Anita  =)
