CRIMINALS!!! They changed my engine oil and suddenly my car that for five years hasn't dropped a single drop of any fluid is POURING transmission fluid out....POURING! By the time I got it to town to a transmission shop it was totaled! had to buy a new car that day. BOYCOTT THESE CRIMINALS!!!

FAKE NEWS!! Please see my response below. We would like to address this serious accusation and no one responded to me. if my car were broken, you better believe I would be on the phone to talk to the owner for reimbursement of a new to me vehicle. No call received. -updated 2-1-2017............................................................................................. OMG! We are so sorry that this happened. If you came in for an oil change, why did they even touch your transmission fluid? WOW! Please reach out to me. Call on my cell so that I can investigate this incident. I got a quote from then last year to repair some damage to my steering. A few days later my neighbor (a professional mechanic for a rental car company Kona side) tells me, he'll help me do the work on the weekend no big deal. Come this year for safety inspection, I go Lex Brodies and what do you know? They say "fix all that stuff we told you before" to pass. Guess what, we fixed all that already. They just printed out what was in the computer and said you have to do that plus some other stuff. Truck was in there for 15 minutes tops, not long enough to figure out we fixed it, not long enough to figure out even if it needed fixing. On top of that they said my rear shocks were worn out and too loose. Really? they are 14 month old pro shocks (MX6) and adjustable (on the softest setting) with a big knob at the bottom that says "adjust". I guess they didn't look, the adjust dial had road grime on it, they didn't even check it. I guess they are punishing me for not letting them do the work last spring, I am punishing them by telling everyone how they do. Even my wife said they were acting weird. Lost my business now and forever.

Hello NDjinnn, Thank you for your feedback and I'm sorry that we lost you forever. Not our intent. I'm addressing this issue with the store and store manager to see if they properly inspected your vehicle. I can assure you, we don't "PUNISH" customers for not bringing their vehicle to us. I use to go here for Tire replacements, quick check ups, and safety checks and they done pretty well at doing their job, so when i seen these past reviews i was a bit surprised. However, the service is slowly going down the drain, if you schedule an appointment you'll be ending up staying or waiting sometimes way more than what they quote you for even simple jobs, maybe they should hire more workers? But after my last visit which I'm not too happy with, I came to find out my drivers door handle had been broken and cracked as if someone tried to pull on it hard. When i reported it to the cashier they refereed me to one of the mechanics instead and walked with me to my vehicle. The mechanic had no clue how the door broke and it wasn't like that before. So now this leaves me with a broken drivers side door and the trouble of having to open it from the passenger side each time i have to get inside. The cashier comes out and looks at the damages and acts as if they didn't knew about it and informed me that they will pay for the damages after they find the cost of the parts and give me a call later that day. One week has passed, no call, not even an apology and no one wants to admit the damages. They didnt even fix the original problem of what i asked them to do which made the situation even worse, and now i wait on my part which will take 2 weeks to get here, thanks for nothing Lex brodies. Do yourself a favor and go else where like a local shop, ever since they got more popular in pahoa service went down the drain.

Sorry that no one got back to you right away and that you had to find out for yourself instead of the salesperson or technician making you aware that your handle broke when he went to open the door. Avoid this location at all cost if you care about your vehicle. Oct 3rd my girlfriend and I call in to get quoted on new brake pads and rotors. The manager Cliff quoted us at $360 for all parts and labor which he went into detail saying that'll cover everything including pins, clips, cleaners, etc. Oct 4th we go in to have this work done, and here's where it got interesting. Right out of the gate the young lady at the front desk tells us we need to have a brake inspection for $18 to figure out what parts we need. I informed her that in the past I was a state vehicle inspector, and that I am comfortable with my level of inspection so the brake inspection would be unnecassary. She argued that there's no way for them to be able to determine what service would need to be provided without the inspection. She stated it would take about 1 hour, so I aloud them to go ahead with the inspection to see what results they produce. 2 hours later as I'm watching the mechanic put my tire back on he uses and impact wrench with a standard socket to hammer my lugs tight. I walk inside and make note of this to the front desk girl who goes to tell the "master technician". He meets me promply outside with a box of torque sticks and explains this is what the other mechanic used. I was standing 15ft away and he's gona tell me what I didn't see with my own eyes. Proceed inside and the estimate is $928 for pads, rotors, calipers, and a flushing. I asked her why are the calipers listed, and she stated that due to my pads being worn down so far that they wouldn't be able to open the caliper to remove the pads being that they are and I quote her words exactly "Famatic brakes"..... Ok at this point I realize I'm not at a mechanic shop, but rather standing in front of professional scammers. She tells me that I should be familiar with "Famatic brakes" and how they can't be opened like standard "spring brakes". Dear god this was terrifying to hear knowing these people just touched my vehicle, and that a brake caliper compression tool which is custom designed for this specific task is only $6 at any parts store. Pneumatic is what I think she meant however these are hydraulic brakes in the first place. We promply left from here and called the auto parts store down the road not even 5 minutes later. $170 bought me brand new pads, rotors, gloves, grease, catalyst, and cleaner. 1hour and 45minutes later I was finished installing it myself with borrowed sockets and a scissor jack, and what do you know the calipers were just fine. I'm around 180lbs and it took me at least two jumps on the end of a 24" breaker bar to bust those "properly replaced" lug nuts off that were put on not even an hour before. Do the math and we are looking at well over 120ft-lbs of torque to tighten them down...thanks for the damage. Although they have ASE certified posted on the wall it does not apply here. As stated above avoid this shop at all cost, push your car home, or abandon it before you pull into here to avoid the headache. Amazing what can happen when you cluster a group of incompetent people into one place.

Hello there, Thank you for your feedback and for the opportunity to help you. We apologize for the longer than expected wait for your brake inspection. The first place we failed you was when we gave you a quote over the phone. We should have told you then that an inspection (no matter what type of repair) would be needed to be done before we can give you any price. This is a common practice among all dealerships. Too often customers say what they "think" they need repaired and wonder why their vehicle is still making "that" noise after the specified repair was done. Better to have a Professional look at it to verify. Secondly, I'm taking your word for it about putting your tires back on with a socket wrench, but our policy is that all tires are put back on the vehicle using the Torque sticks. They were spoken to and reminded about the proper procedures and torque specs. Sorry that you had to work at taking the tires off. Third concern you had about the "Famatic brakes"...... The saleswoman was explaining to you that your piston on your brake caliper were PHENOLIC -which is made of a plastic polymer. As a precautionary measure, they were recommending that they be replaced since the tech would be replacing other braking components. The labor for this would be the same and would have made all of the parts of the same age and usage. Often times customers prefer we do all the work at the same time. You preferred not to, which is fine. Lastly, our prices are set as a trade standard. It covers for parts & labor and all work is backed by a written warranty for 12,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. Glad you got your brakes done and know enough on how to get the repair done on your own. Be safe on the roads and again, we apologize for any misunderstandings and Welcome to Hawaii! Aloha.... I will not be doing Buisness with lex Brodie's in Pahoa again ..Sad because I've always done all my tire Buisness there . 8 mnts ago I purchase 4 brand new tires for my daughter a single female who knows nothing about cars or tires . At the time of purchase the male who was helping her never not once recommended that she get an alignment ( she actually thought that was included) that's how much she knows .. Any how here we are back at lex Brodie's only 8 short mnts later all 4 tires are destroyed due to bad alignment or NO alignment . Now here's my thing if you are going to spend almost 600$ on tires only to have them be totally destroyed because you Did NOT have them aligned is a crock !!!! There is no doubt that if this employee had recommended an alignment or if he had even specified how important it was to have it done .. The extra 80 $ for the alignment would have not been a problem when infact it just makes sense . Today I'm at lex Brodie's really bummed ,we'll I gotta get 4 new tires again ..I'm upset at the situation but not directly at the employees I'm actually ready to do Buisness with them again even tho I felt that the employee who first help my daughter was partially responsible for this sad situation . I decided to purchase 2 new tires today with hopes that the assistant manager on duty would have some type of regard to make the situation rite by discounting my alignment or maybe even comping the alignment all together . If an alignment was recommended in the beginning I wouldn't be here only 8 mnts later . I wasn't looking for free services . I felt the manager never cared to make it rite . That's when I decided to go else where for my new tires and much needed alignment . Here's an update of my most recent review about my experience at Lex Brodie's in Pahoa .... After posting here on Yelp I received several phone calls from Anita and Cliff the store managers .They were both apologetic ,understanding and professional . They offered me a free alignment and treated me with Aloha. So just because of the response I got from Anita and Cliff I will give them 5 stars and maybe we can do Buisness again in the future . Thank You Danielle for reaching out to us about your situation at our Pahoa Store and allowing me to talk to you in private about your unhappy review. We are sorry for the poor attitude you received from our Sales Staff. Your concern has been addressed and we will do a better job to improve on our tonality and communication skills when speaking to our customers. We should have used more empathy towards your situation. Also, they should have explained and educated your daughter about her vehicle and why an alignment is important for proper tire wear. If we had done our part, then she would have known to align her vehicle after she had her struts replaced by another shop. Thank you for taking such great care of your daughters situation. So fast!! It's like drive threw mechanics. I wish every shop was like this. Fastest safety check IV ever had. No getting out and waiting in a line. Wait in line in the comfort of your can for only moments. Everyone was so friendly. ! 1 person voted for this review

Employees & assistant manager are great, however the crusty old manager is very unfair & took complete advantage of me. I brought tires in & they mounted them. Only to find out that they rubbed on the fender. After paying $120 to get mounted & balanced. He charged another $80 to put originals back on. Unreal, very dissapointed with the higher management. Besides manager good folks...

I was very impressed with how Anita, the store owner, and Cliff, the store manager, handled the situation. Right after the my negative review, they both contacted me to get the details of what happened and assured me that it would never happen again. I completely understand in any business mistakes happen, but we were surprised by how the staff seemed uncaring about their mistakes. Well, the management of the store felt very different and showed it through their actions. I am considering giving this place another chance and am grateful for how Anita and Cliff heard our concerns and followed up with us. My husband arrived there on time but had to wait an hour and half for the car to even be pulled into the shop. They rushed the job and finished in less than half an hour. My husband drove away and realized that it was a very quick service so he opened his hood and saw that they did not fill the fluids. The coolant was down to almost nothing. So he drove right back and asked them if they fill fluids, and they replied that it was part of the service. He showed them that he just left and asked to see the checkoff list of what they did. They clearly did not do their job and left out something as important as refilling the engine coolant. When he showed this to the manager, they filled the coolant. The whole time, the staff acted smug and unapologetic. There was no taking responsibility for the huge delay or the lack of an important service. I would rather drive to Hilo to get decent service. I called several automotive companies in Hilo regarding AC repair on my Honda CR-V. One company came back to me with quotes while the others did not. Since I live in Pahoa area, I decided to call Lex Brodie of Pahoa. I spoke with the manager, Cliff, over the phone & he patiently listened to my frustrations regarding the high cost AC estimation repair for compressor of what was quoted from the other auto company. Cliff quoted me an affordable repair cost. When I met Cliff in person to have my car serviced, he was just as friendly, patient. The AC works excellent & although they had to repair an additional problem of shredded wires, the price was affordable. He even had staff provide transportation for me as it took 7 hrs of repair. The other staff Ivy & Jared were very friendly & helpful as well. The waiting lounge was clean & I was able to monitor what shows I wanted to see on TV; had ample outlets to plug in my iphone charge. From now on, I'll go to this company for my auto repairs. 1 person voted for this review

Overall experience was a steady Good-Great! The "Uncle" mechanic/Pop of the Shop! Had a lot of knowledge and experience.The woman in the the front Ivy I think.. was very kind and and personable. She was upfront and helped me and my family ID the right tires at a competitive price. Lounge is quaint with recliners, A/C, cable and Coffee! Thank you Pahoa Lex Brodies.Sam H.
