Tire Balancing - During installation, tires purchased with our full service package are balanced using state-of-art equipment Tire Rotation- We recommend that you rotate your tires every 6-7,000 miles. Rotating the tires provides an excellent opportunity to carefully inspect them. Uneven wear is a tip-off that the tires have been operated at the wrong inflation pressure. Certain tire wear patterns indicate that the suspension needs alignment or the tires are out of balance Alignment - When installing new tires we strongly recommend checking the car for proper wheel alignment to protect against accelerated and uneven tire wear, “pulling” and other problems associated with poor wheel alignment. ENGINE: Preventative Maintenance - Since many parts of your vehicle are inter-related, ignoring maintenance can lead to failure of other parts or an entire system. Neglecting even simple preventive maintenance, such as changing the oil or checking the coolant, can lead to poor fuel economy or costly breakdowns. The best way to keep a vehicle in good condition is to follow the manufacturer's maintenance schedule in your owner's manual. Oil Changes - One of the most beneficial things you can do to extend the life of your vehicle is change the motor oil regularly. But, regularly does not mean frequently. The old rule of thumb of changing the oil every 3,000 miles may not apply to today's advanced engines. Technologically improved lubricants are capable of lasting longer while still doing a good job of protecting your engine. Flush Radiator - Rust and sediment can accumulate in the cooling system. Flushing the radiator helps keep the cooling system clean. Some service manuals stipulate flushing and refilling the radiator every 24 months, regardless of mileage. AIR CONDITIONING - Instead of adding cold air to the interior, a vehicle’s air conditioning actually removes the heat from outside air, cleaning and dehumidifying and keeping it at the temperature you select. A thorough inspection for leaks includes: - Inspecting interior controls and blower - Check radiator coolant level, hoses, pressure cap and thermostat - Test the condition and tension of the A/C compressor belt - Check for leaks or other damage - Review component conditions for leaks or damage - System testing also includes: Cooling system pressure test - - Compare A/C pressure to manufacturer’s recommendations - Test A/C system for refrigerant leaks - Check interior vent air temperature BRAKES - BRAKE INSPECTION - The braking system is easily one of the most important systems in your car. Brake inspections are most logically done in connection with tire rotation, since the wheels have to be removed to properly inspect brake pads and shoes. The brake inspection is an ideal time to check the brake fluid. An unusually low fluid level indicates a leak, but the possibility of contamination is just as serious. Contamination causes corrosion, which eventually leads to other brake problems. Brake fluid should be clear to amber colored. A sure sign of contamination is a darkening of the fluid to a tea or coffee color. Brake fluid absorbs moisture, so water contamination is common in areas of the country where the humidity is high. BRAKE REPAIR - Signs of brake trouble and things to look for when you apply the brakes: - If the pedal slowly sinks down to the floor, you may have a bad master cylinder. - If the pedal feels soft and mushy but gets harder when you pump up and down, we may need to bleed the brake lines to remove any air pockets. - If the brakes pulsate when you step on them, the rotors may be warped. - If the brake pedal sinks to the floor or gets soft when using the brakes on a long, steep downhill grade, that could be brake fade, which is when the brake fluid gets hot enough to boil. This problem tends to disappear once the brake fluid cools down. - Most important of all: Never drive the car for more than a short distance if your brake light comes on. If it does, check the brake fluid and make an appointment to have the brakes checked. SUSPENSION SYSTEM CHECK Our technicians will examine the following: - Tie rod ends (inner and outer) - Idler arm - Pitman arm - Rack and pinion unit - Rack and pinion bellows boots - Springs - Shock absorbers - All other suspension components AN ALIGNMENT CHECK CONSISTS OF: - Inspection of the steering and suspension components. - Examination of the tires (size, inflation and wear). - Comparison of your current alignment to the guidelines provided by your manufacturer. GENERAL ELECTRICAL: Repairing a car’s electrical system means looking at three major components: the battery, starter and alternator. BATTERY INSPECTION: - Overall car battery and case condition - Cable connections - Hold-down hardware - Electrolyte level (where applicable) - Then a Battery Load Test is performed to measure the battery’s power level as required by the battery and vehicle manufacturers' specifications. STARTER INSPECTION: - Cable connections - Mounting bolts and brackets - Then a Starter Electrical "Draw" Test is done, measuring the amount of electrical energy required to turn the engine over during cranking. Results are compared to manufacturer's specifications. ALTERNATOR INSPECTION: - An overall visual inspection - The drive belt - Mounting brackets - Electrical connections CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM - A Charging System Test checks alternator output (current) and voltage and ensures they are to manufacturer's specifications. Many times, a faulty transmission is diagnosed when the culprit is really just a low level of transmission fluid. Always make sure yours is at an acceptable level according to your owner’s manual. It is important that proper fluid levels are maintained and fluids are clean and clear. FLUID CHECK Fluids that you should check include the: - Engine oil - Transmission fluid - Brake fluid - Antifreeze - Power steering fluid OIL, LUBE AND FILTER Change your oil and oil filters according to the recommendation in your owner's manual or follow the "every 3 months or 3000 miles" rule of thumb for getting an oil change. Our oil, lube and filter service includes: - Changing oil and oil filter - Checking air filter - Checking and top off all fluids - Checking belts and hoses - Checking tire pressure EXHAUST SYSTEM CHECK Frequent Checks of your exhaust system is a must to provide for you and your family's safety. We check to make sure there are no holes int the exhaust system or in the passenger compartment where exhaust fumes could enter.
